Hey guys
Ever since we had to move domain, we've been getting only 5-10% of the hits we used to get.
I'm concerned that a lot of people who were following the saga and who were subscribed to the old RSS feed don't know the new http://firefly.your-japan.com address.
If you guys could let your friends know about the new URL, or if you have a website if you could put up a small article with the new firefly.your-japan.com link, that'd be super.
I'd hate to think I built up a big audience of readers who were suddenly unable to continue reading because the registry prematurely reset the domain, and they're mising hyphen in the new link!

Did you lose the yourjapan.com or yourjapan.jp domain completely? The domains usually go on hold giving you time to recover them.

I noticed the page (old address) was down a few days ago and i figured it would just come back up on it's own. Only today did I google "yourjapan" and found the new address, searched for your name, and found you again.

As I understand it, the domain went down, we tried to get it back, but the .jp domain has special 'rules and regulations', and we were finally told we couldn't get it back for a month. So then we switched to .com.
But I dont think the old domain is coming back. The .jp domains are expensive and it cut out 20 days earlier than it should have done, and the admin was running around for days and days on the phone to domain companies, registries, etc.

not sure if anyone has posted your new link on reddit, but i just did. that's how I originally found this site in the first place. hopefully it will climb to the top.

After the old url went down, it was a few days before I happened to see this new one on Reddit a couple days ago. I'm sure more people will start to refind your site, it's too good not to get them back.

Doesn¡t everybody know how to google? Or indeed just use any searchengine. I was however a bit confused when yourjapan.jp was just... gone. Thinking it was a big portal it felt odd.
Thankfully (for me) I don¡t trust myself(my memory) so I started searching the internets and found you again, searching the reddit site and found out about a sudden "switch".
Maybe someone more socially skilled with english as their native language (or just better skills anyway) could try to get this on digg and netscape etcnow that reddit is "covered"? I¡ll atleast digg it or click it and that if you link it here :)
How many are we? Could we manage to pay for an advertisement in the times or such? ;) Oh I know! Get someone to pose as a 15-16 year old girl on youtube and mention this in the middle of some romance/everyday ... channel, or try to contact youtubes "emmalina" and that 15girl...girl.. fakegirl.
Seriously though, I would happilly spend some time on trying something like this... marketing stuff. Any tips? I know how to make a website and such php, mysql and all, haven¡t got any visitors though :(
Any stats on where trafic came from before (and comes form now)? search keywords and that?

Considering a lot of us keep updated via RSS, and many RSS readers don't report or make a big deal about errors retrieving feeds, I suspect many figure your blog is just going through another dry spell. When they don't see anything new for another month or so, some of them will probably try to connect to the site manually to post a "WTF? When the hell are you going to continue the Saga?" rant and discover that yourjapan.jp doesn't work. Some will Google right away, but others might check back sporadically to see if the site comes back up, before finally being bothered to do a search. Doubtful you'll get back everyone, especially as you probably lost quite a few when you took a break from the Saga earlier, but the real fans will make their way here again.
