Busier than a one legged man in an ass-kicking competition
Hey guys,
The last few weeks have probably been the busiest of my entire life. I barely have time to sleep let along update a blog right now. My advice to you is this :
1. Sign up for the Firefly newsletter so I can email you when there is an update.
2. Check out some of the other YourJapan blogs. There are some great ones :
http://saintly.your-japan.com/ (NEW!)
http://pachipro.your-japan.com/ (Always fascinating reading)
http://amanojack.your-japan.com/ (Slightly different subject matter, but still relevant to Japan...!)
Please check these out and be sure to leave a comment saying hello! If you have had any experience with Japan, think about signing up for a blog and telling the world about it.
Thanks for the info FF. I am glad to see that you are well.

Hi Firefly! Great blog. I noticed that the stories you tell have occurred some years back. I was wondering if you have anything up to date or of recent?

Great blog Firefly, I felt like I was there again after reading your posts. I'm looking forward to your next post when you get the time.
I have an Aussie background as well, when I was just a little shaver I lived there for 3 years while my father worked there as a mining supervisor in Queensland. I lived in Mt. Isa and Cloncurry as well as way out in the bush from the ages of 5 - 8. I still remember the 5 foot goanna lizards and monster centipedes wandering through our front yard. I used to feed the lizards table scraps, even though my parents discouraged it :-)
I've only been a tourist in Japan in the past, but I am moving there next month. I am trying to get acclimated as much as I can through the relevant blogs. Yours has been very helpful.
Thank you for the link to the Saintly blog, lots of good information there about moving to Japan and getting a job there!

Firefly, lose the Amanojack link please. Have you considered that some of your readers might be "chicks" and be offended by the content on that asshole's excuse for a blog? "How to seduce "chicks" fast" "How to get "chicks" fast" -- with all the drooling male idiots following along asking him "playa" questions.
UGH.
Oh my YES, let's teach men how to sucker women into the sack. Any man who needs to do that is lame beyond belief, and the fact that you'd suggest his blog is... wrong.
If you're a loss, throw them to Azrael at Gaijinsmash or outpostnine.com -- at least he's funny. I haven't had a chance to read the second one, let's hope it's not more of that sophomoric stupidity.
Gah, I'm so offended by that garbage, and I know that any other woman reading your blog who actually goes there will feel the same way.
Why didn't you at least post a warning? "This isn't about Japan except peripherally where the writer explains his theories on how to get Japanese women into the sack and how to get them to give up money... interesting reading for anyone stupid and lame enough to need to take advantage of women and to want to be taught how to do so.. in other words, scum."
There you go.
Have a REALLY nice day!

Goodbye Firefly.

Seriously man. I know you have no obligations to tell us anything and that this is your blog, but you have fans. It would be nice even if you were to post a 1 sentence update or even to say, "you know what?...I don't have time for this anymore."
Posted by akira — 27 Aug 2007, 23:52
Firefly, I keep a special keyboard shortcut to your blog because I like it so much. I check it every day hoping you will remember that there are people like me who truly enjoy what you have to say, and that you might spend a free hour on the weekend to give us another update (even just another "hi i'm very busy but still around, keep checking and i'll be back in a couple of weeks"). I read few other blogs, and it takes a lot to get me interested. Please let us know whether or not you will continue this blog, or if you've decided to stop writing. I know you have lots of dedicated fans just like me who just want to know you're still around. Thanks!

Firefly, I've enjoyed your blog for a while and thank you for writing it. However I have to concur with what Kanai said a few comments above. Lose the link. The whole blog is in real bad taste and exactly the type of trite which gives expats a bad reputation wherever they choose to live.
Oh yea, keep writing mate. Thanks :)
ps. for the record, im male.

Yeah, he's looong gone. My bet is either he got a book deal or he's dead/homeless.
Dude, if you still read this...let us know. Not like you HAVE to or anything, but it would be nice.
Posted by akira — 13 Nov 2007, 06:59
I agree...you dont have to write anything, but at least let us know. I keep expecting to click this page and see an update. We all hope you are well!....maybe he's in a Japanese prison....or hes on walkabout

Come on, this is not fair. Why I still check this blog hoping to see something new?
Posted by Boris — 22 Jan 2008, 11:16
Yeah.. it's pretty sad to see this blog's inactivity. Oh well.. let's just hope he'll be back soon.
Posted by Jaryl — 23 Jan 2008, 15:12
Well... the saga DID technically end. I do check this site occasionally though in hopes of reading something new.

Posted by abhishekp — 19 Feb 2008, 23:16
yeah me too...i check just in case...
I think he got the best last laugh of all...we need to get a search team going to see where he is, or even if he's still alive...
Posted by maven — 05 Mar 2008, 14:58
I can't believe I still check back on this blog. I also can't believe so many other people do too!
Posted by Jonathan — 09 Mar 2008, 07:52
Me too. It's crazy.
With such a good writing he could do a book of the blog after couple of years.
Posted by mikkom — 17 Mar 2008, 05:56
So...I had a funeral for Firefly today...pretty sad.
Posted by strtpls3 — 01 Apr 2008, 23:22
I agree - I come here once a month to see if he's added anything new.. Sad that he gave up after his domain name fiasco (lost your-japan.jp and a lot of page views with that).

I agree. I love his writing style and I think he should do a book.

He linked some other blogs. Maybe asking them whether they know his email address? We may try to contact him indirectly.
